The collection analyses current trends in the economic branches of production, controlling and logistics.
Within the context of operations management this collection for example will solve the issue of how to plan, operate and control long-term success of product innovations. Furthermore, it will be examined how to successfully implement just-in-time production in terms of lean management. Moreover, it will be presented how selected methods of operations management can be transferred to service management.
The second branch, controlling, will be discussed on the basis of strategic, tactical and operational topics. As a long-term decision problem it will be considered, in how far value-based management can be used as a basis for important decisions in location planning. Additionally, it will be examined to what extent the medium-term quality management and controlling can be used not only for production- but also for logistics processes. The reporting design will be the last controlling topic presented. It focuses on the operational question, what impact the reporting design has on quality and efficiency of business decisions.
The third branch, logistics, is subject of further scientific discussions. In this context for example the question will be discussed, what storage capacity a company in the short or long run should choose, if there is a previously determined operational or strategic objective to optimize. Furthermore, different approaches in location planning with international and/or practice-oriented reference will be discussed. Selected issues of distribution logistics will complement the collection.
