About this book deutschenglish
With the present work, Gutsche delivers a text that points to a number of open questions and challenges the reader to think along. Most social scientists generally equate personality theory with psychological personality theory and define “socialization” simply as “personal development”. The author distinguishes between psychological and social personality traits and, logically, between psychological and sociological personality theories. And he starts from the thesis that personality development does not only take place in social learning (socialization). A successful activity or innovation by an engineer, doctor or economist, which at the same time gives a certain impulse for social changes, can also be an impetus in their own personality development and not the result of a socialization affecting them. Sociological personality development takes place in the socialization process as well as in the processes of individual actions that change society. The concept of the social milieu appears to Gutsche in the further sections of his book as a rather vague and romanticizing concept, because it includes social-psychic lifestyles as well as social-structural conditions and market-economy “target group structures”, all of which are based on special typological methods of research emerge. Instead of milieus, the author speaks of typologies of social personality or of sociological personality types. In another section of the publication, the author is concerned with a number of questions of socio-political practice, including questions about the perspective of work. In this context, the reduction of working hours, as it should actually be possible in digital and social development, takes up a lot of space.
