Economic growth and the future prosperity of society are largely determined by the issues of climate change, sustainability and the way in which companies and economies deal with them. Here, the economy and its companies have a major responsibility, but politics must also point the way to the necessary transformation by defining the appropriate framework conditions.

This transformation requires innovations that deliver holistic solutions to complex, cross-industry challenges. Such solutions do not result from the work of individual players from science, practice and politics, but must be developed in cooperation with all relevant players.

In many cases, solutions conceived in joint (research and development) projects are not transferred to practice, or not quickly enough. The dissertation shows essential obstacles of such projects from planning to implementation and transfer of results.

Consequently, a procedure model is developed, which offers an approach for the elimination or minimization of these obstacles.

With this procedure model, the Boosted Innovation Loop, an innovative model has been created, which represents an innovation and improvement in the development of holistic solution approaches for the future society. Based on the results of the work, this model can also be applied especially in process and project management of (federally) funded application-oriented research projects to minimize or eliminate the obstacles of current structures and processes. At the same time, the Boosted Innovation Loop is characterized by properties that clearly go beyond previous process models. The exponential development as the basis of accelerated innovation projects and the intersection where methods and aspects for acceleration can be found is an essential milestone within the iterative Boosted Innovation Loop.

As a result, it is shown that new process models such as the Boosted Innovation Loop are a promising option for future innovations to address current and upcoming challenges. Thus, there is the possibility that development times can be used efficiently, development costs can be reduced and the increase of competitiveness and thus the safeguarding of Germany as a technology location can be achieved.
