About this book deutschenglish

The aim of the present study is to analyze both the historical genesis of the first reading lesson and the current status quo in Carinthia, as well as to formulate proposals for the learning process of letters.

The first section presents the historical development of the first reading and writing lessons. It also includes an analysis of the curriculum vitae and works by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, Rudolf Steiner, Maria Montessori and Celestin Freinet together with an analysis regarding their current relevance. Afterwards the Austrian primary school curriculum (general regulations, teaching principles, general didactic principles and also educational and teaching tasks) will be discussed, on the topic of language and speaking as well as preparation for reading and writing.

"How is the practice of literacy resp. which kinds of framework and learning conditions do exist for the study of reading- and writing in regular schools?" This question constitutes the main focus of the work. The composition, didactic concept and textbook analysis of the four most frequently used first-reading books in Carinthia are discussed, and empirically-qualitatively raised expert reports on these works can be found thereafter. In the fourth part of the thesis, reading and writing lessons in alternative school forms in Carinthia (Trinity Private School, Lais School, Waldorf School and Montessori Schools) have been researched.

The fifth section of the thesis provides an opportunity for pedagogues from regular schools as well as from the alternative school forms to get a chance to speak about the subject of letter processing (b, d, ei / ie) as well as their storage strategies.

The last section deals with the learning process with all senses, makes reference to different types of learners, and discusses the possibilities of letter processing according to the ideas of Gabriele Grimm in particular on the letters Bb, Dd, Ei / ei and ie.
