About this book deutschenglish

By creating logotherapy and existential analysis, Viktor Frankl opened up a globally instantly successful and respected psychotherapy method built upon the noetic dimension. Frankl's philosophy founded on the principle of oneness is compelling both in his impressive theory as well as in practice.

Logotherapy, as the third branch of psychotherapy of the Viennese Group, is the youngest after Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis and Alfred Adler's individual psychology. At the same time, it is also the one who completes psychology by integrating the spiritual dimension.

In this book, the author not only shows that, according to Frankl, the essential questions in life can only be answered in an interdisciplinary manner, but also solidifies this by illustrating concrete examples. Isolated brain research cannot solve the fundamental questions of psychology. In order to reach satisfactory results, noetics and other faculties must also be integrated. Frankl thus initiated the overcoming of the dualism that had prevailed in our thinking for centuries: the scientific laws and the spiritual principles originate from the same logos. Logotherapy and Frankl’s existential analytical insights shed light on Carl Gustav Jung’s synchronicity, Heraclitus’ postulate, Pythagoras’ harmonics, Hegel’s dialectics and their developmental context. It is only through the meaning of the logos that the cardinal distinction from the philosophical works of Hegel, the literature of Schiller or the Christian letters of Apostle Paul all the way to the Taoist and Vedic traditions can be fully understood. At the same time, their structural similarities become obvious. The differentiating findings of Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr, who co-founded the Copenhagen interpretation of today's elementary physics, are also revealing in this context.

For Frankl, finding meaning in people's life situations had priority, as did the fundamental principle of freedom of people, which is rooted in their thinking. Interestingly the chess game, descendant of the Vedic-Persian tradition, is also based on the same principles and regularities. Frankl himself has already seen this connection after surviving even the hardest trials of life during four concentration camps with the composure of a chess grandmaster. Frankl's humor, his serenity, his engaged activity with the depth and breadth of his reflection and his capacity for human empathy are the inspiration and the fulfillment of this book.
