Industry 4.0, also referred to as the fourth industrial revolution, is a topic that has recently attracted significant research attention. It is characterized by its potential, which transfers into the transformation of a traditional industry into a smart industry with advanced modern technologies. In order for enterprises to cope with the rapid pace of Industry 4.0 development, a focus on introducing innovation into business processes is needed. An adequate set of management practices can make a major contribution to the development of long-term innovation capabilities of enterprises and facilitate the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept.

Based on the above, the purpose of the present book is to highlight the importance of Industry 4.0, which transfers into noticeable changes in the implementation of managerial functions. Among other things, it also highlights hitherto under-researched managerial practices that are indispensable for fostering an innovation climate in the context of Industry 4.0. Our intention is to strengthen awareness of Industry's impact on business management by sharing appropriate practices, tools and implementing changes that accelerate the successful adoption of Industry 4.0. The emerging challenges from the ongoing revolution require adaptation to changing environmental conditions as well as learning, which depends in particular on human capital and the ability of enterprises to use it to their advantage in order to build competitiveness.

The book Organizational Innovation in the Age of Industry 4.0 from Management Perspective represents one of the first attempts to draw attention to the important role of managerial functions in the context of Industry 4.0, as most researchers present only partial results on the theoretical level in the field of management, or the more advanced studies discuss mainly the technological aspects of Industry 4.0. It offers an extensive theoretical exploration of the managerial functions of planning, organizing, human resource management, leadership and controlling in the context of the impact of Industry 4.0.

The book also highlights the fact that a disruptive challenge for managers as well as researchers will be to explore what strategy to apply when implementing the Industry 4.0 concept, not only within the boundaries of the enterprise, but also including the entire enterprise ecosystem.
