About the editors
Prof. Dr. Klaus Püschel is a forensic pathologist and one of Germany’s most distinguished experts in the field. For more than three decades, he headed the Institute of Legal Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. He also held a leading position at the Center for Interdisciplinary Addiction Research at the University of Hamburg and was elected to the Leopoldina – the German National Academy of Sciences – in 2013.
Internationally recognized as an expert witness, he has been involved in numerous high-profile cases, including the investigations into the death of Uwe Barschel, the Göhrde murders, and the Kachelmann case. His work has taken him to countries such as Egypt, Rwanda, Syria, and Kosovo. For many years, he has also devoted himself to forensic-anthropological studies of archaeological findings, including several bog bodies.
Since his retirement in 2020, he has continued to publish widely – both in non-fiction, making forensic medicine accessible to a broad readership, and in crime novels that draw on his decades of professional experience.
