The 9th volume of the series presents various aspects of the specialised and professional communication in the past and present. The first part Maritime Sprachkontakte und maritime Lexikografie was born out of the conference of the same name which took place on March 2nd 2017 in Szczecin. This section focuses on several subjects from the history of maritime dictionaries, such as Allgemeines Wörterbuch der Marine (1793–1798) by Johann Hinrich Röding, which is a masterly achievement of the maritime specialised lexicography of the 18th century. Nonetheless, it also contains articles on other Polish and German historical dictionaries for example Goethe-Wörterbuch or German puristic and Polish maritime dictionaries of the 18th, 19th and 20th century.

The second part Fach- und berufssprachliche Phänomene in linguistischer Betrachtung refers to terminology and special vocabulary in epic, media, and specialised texts. The broad insight into this field comprises several linguistic perspectives such as grammatical, contrastive, text linguistic, and lexicographical studies.
