Globally active enterprises, international youth-exchanges, semester abroad, as well as internships, international deployment of German soldiers, migration and the concomitant cohabitation of people from different cultures have become normal occurrences in the contemporary era of globalization and internationalization of our society. The importance of intercultural competences and thus qualification courses is increasing due to this surge in cultural diversity.

In order to promote these key qualifications at universities, the book will present the development of an intercultural training manual. The manual can be used to prepare students for their stay abroad in the context of numerous foreign university partnerships as well as research collaborations.

For the conception of the intercultural training a broad spectrum of literature, first experiences in the administration of an existing training concept which was part of a pilot project at the University Koblenz-Landau, as well as expert experiences will be included. Thus, the first part of the book will elucidate the derivation of the training modules from the literature in detail followed by an illustration of the intercultural training manuals of other universities. These results will then be complemented by experiences gathered during the first two intercultural trainings at the University Koblenz-Landau and practical experiences of already established projects. Experiences and assessments of students of the University Koblenz-Landau who have completed a stay abroad will further add to the results. All accessible resources necessary for the conception of the intercultural training will thereby be included which additionaly enhances the significance of the work at hand.
