About this book deutschenglish
Nalan Xingde was one of the most prominent ci poets of China. His works currently receive renewed attention, especially amongst the youth. Nalan Xingde lived in the 17th century. As a son of a powerful minister and nobleman and a member of the imperial guard himself, he lived a materially very comfortable life. Nevertheless, he suffered greatly under the early loss of his dearly beloved wife and created a lot of poems in her memory to cope with the pain. This book lays out the life and the love poems of the poet, and gives a general introduction to the specifically Chinese genre of ci poems. It also compares Nalan Xingdes life and work to that of the English poet Thomas Hardy and to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, then points out parallels and differences between the western and eastern way of writing love poems to further the understanding of Nalan Xingdes works.Kontakt zum Autor
