About this book englishenglish

This book represents development and state-of-the-art of alternative plant protection product application techniques on various principles of sprayer operation in recent decades. After massive introduction of the boom-sprayers into the horticulture production the expression of the plant protection product (PPP) dosage, became the first important task to solve, because the first of the huge drift in the orchards due to the unfitted spraying quantities and amount of PPP. The most important models for adopting the spraying process to the shape and fruit development is was suggested in form of canopy volume, leaf wall area and canopy height expression model. With sensing systems for electronic canopy characterization, which originally functioned on the basis of ultrasound and later on the principle of spectral reflection, characteristics of tree canopies in an orchard could be adequately estimated. Further development was focused on decision-making models for controlling the dosage of PPP from the simplest ON/OFF systems to continuous decision-making models, generalized decision-making model and fuzzy decision-making model, respectively. Most important chapters describe advanced PPP application technique and future directions with a special focus on improvement of electronic tree canopy sensing, advanced decision-making models in the PPP process, advanced nozzle positioning system, pulse-width modulation system, autonomous modular system and the latest precision variable-rate spraying robot system. Nevertheless, the practical experiments in the orchards in which special attention is payed to the accuracy of canopy volume estimation results, leaf area evaluation efficiency, PPP savings, plant diseases detection and reduction of losses, as well as to the efficiency of variable dosage rate control unit in the practice is represented.
