It provides a comprehensive overview of the emergence of hip-hop culture, the development of German- and US-rap, and the intricacies and peculiarities of the German rap scene. It reveals how engineer Gaston Glock turned a curtain mount company to a billion-dollar firearms empire. Furthermore it looks at the different models, variants, and features of Glock pistols.

After the reader has been informed in detail about the Glock and rap, the discourse-analytical examination of these two topics begins. This is always done from the perspective of media and communication studies, and all findings are classified in terms of media ethics.

The representation and use of the Glock in rap songs are meticulously examined, rhetorical stylistic devices are revealed, and dominant discourses are elaborated. It is analyzed which persons fall victim to the gun and in which contexts it is mentioned particularly often.
