Short lead times contribute significantly to the satisfaction of customers. In this context Niclas Rempe designs a model to steer and control the material resource planning in a targeted system for direct purchasing within the project industry in SAP-R/3. This thesis focuses on the purchaser as the link between the customer and the third-party supplier. Therefore, a model with a targeted system consisting of total replenishment lead times, capital lockup and procurement effort — including relevant levers for improvement — has been developed. For the evaluation of the developed model a global brake system supplier in the rail industry has been selected.
