The mastery of not just one but several foreign languages is one of the basic requirements of people in all areas of professional life in today’s world of globalization. The authors’ collective deals also with some topics, methods and means for the acquisition of foreign languages (in our case for the acquisition of the German language) in this scientific monograph. In the individual chapters one considers the DaF7DaZ lessons from a very different perspective.

The international context of the German language within the framework of the European Union, the search for the position of the German language in Slovakia and its comparison with the Czech Republic are the subjects that enable us to understand the German language from an international political perspective.

When it comes to the linguistic skills development, we see German from a didactical-methodological perspective. We look for suitable ways to help us reach the learning objectives we have set out in an interesting, attractive and effective way.

The cognitive perspective leads us to the knowledge that ca not be neglected when acquiring a foreign language. In this monograph, this area represents the imparting of cultural (and cultural) knowledge through newspapers and newspaper articles.

After all, it is important to understand the whole process of learning foreign languages in an intercultural context, i.e. also to see the DaF / DaZ lessons from an intercultural perspective. Because for a lasting economic and social success abroad you need a lot more - you have to be interculturally competent.
