It is incontestable that a high professional skill is a fundamental requirement for the occupational practice in almost all professional domains (schools, hospitals, companies). Specialist knowledge is a necessary, but not a sufficient precondition for successful action. For such professional domains solution processes, which are fixed a priori, exist only very rarely because the application of knowledge is not the most important part, but rather the realization of knowledge of interpersonal situations. In such situations, action is not only dependent on professional knowledge, but it is determined by emotional aspects. The dealing with emotions (with own emotions and with others) as a competence is necessary, in order to master job assignments in complex domains, which imply interpersonal situations. The concept of emotional competences concerns an information-theoretical approach, which should contribute to clarify individual differences of the mastery of emotional situations. The knowledge acquisition of coping with the construct emotional competence is not only relevant for science, since it shows a new dimension of the emotion-, and expertise research, but rather for the working environment. Furthermore, there is only little known about the dynamic between emotional competence and acting in professional situations. It is particularly lacking in models or intervention measures, which could also help the acting person to consider emotional processes and handle them actively.Link der Autorin
