MUSAC is a software project for the determination of the measurement uncertainty. MUSAC was started in the field of analytic chemistry and has therefore a special focus on this particular field. Analysis laboratories must be able to indicate the measurement uncertainties of their results in order to meet the new standards and regulations (e.g. ISO 17025 / "Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement").

The determination of the measurement uncertainties is a complex and expensive task especially in analytical chemistry. MUSAC computes and supports the determination of the combined standard uncertainty of a measurement result, as chemists can describe their concrete measurement procedure on the basis of standard techniques (and their models), a computer program accomplishes the necessary computations based on the seized description, and chemists can write and maintain models for individual measurement steps themselves.
This book describes architecture and implementation the central core of this software project.
