In the last two to three decades, criminal defence has been characterised by increasing specialisation and professionalisation. Not only, but especially in connection with white-collar criminal proceedings, sometimes large budgets are used, because conversely, drastic economic damages are also threatened. Increasingly, in these cases, in addition to the legal result at the end of the proceedings, the presentation of the case and the accused in public also plays a role - on the one hand for purely reputational reasons, but on the other hand possibly also with a view to the outcome of the proceedings, since the courts cannot completely avoid reporting on their cases. Defence lawyers may make their own efforts, but there is also a move by litigation PR agencies into the German market. Together with the continuing increase in the rapid dissemination of information as well as the growing importance of media work in the judiciary, a look at the media work of defence lawyers - not only, but also the work of the judiciary - seems worthwhile. The media work of the defence lawyer has already been examined in the literature to some extent. There is also specialist literature on legal psychology and communication science with reference to criminal proceedings. However, the media work of the defence lawyer has not yet been examined across disciplines.The work is dedicated to all such questions, whereby a special feature is that interviews were conducted with various defence lawyers and representatives of the judiciary, the results of which are repeatedly incorporated into the work and are printed as an appendix to the work.
