About this book deutschenglish

Josef Nejez (*1945): His life and work – with special consideration of his Missa pro vita ascendente Op.100

This book provides a comprehensive orientation about Professor Josef Nejez’s part-time musical activities as a composer, arranger and instrumentalist, it gives a chronological biography and a thematic overview of the stylistic elements and musical style in Nejez’s work. In this book, his first mass composition „Missa pro vita ascendente“ is analysed in detail, and its position within the genre history of the genre mass is considered. Furthermore, two sections of the book deal with the rehearsal and performance of this missa. The dignified work is not only guided by research interest, but is also intended to complement the introductions to Austrian church music in the second half of the 20th century. The extensive appendix consists of a chronological table, discography, catalogue raisonné and the minutes of a detailed conversation with Josef Nejez; it completes the exploratory and introductory character of the book.

The following new edition of a summary of Josef Nejez´s life and work may prove handy as an introduction to Nejez´s complete oeuvre, and so toward adressing a fruitfull future of music.
