About this book deutschenglish
In today's globalized world, undergoing rapid transformations, not only have the lifestyles of many people changed in a few decades, but societal structures, economic systems, and political frameworks have also had to undergo processes of change that are far from complete. Globalization provides countless individuals with the opportunity to establish contacts, build relationships, and come closer to one another.
The Church is also a part of this world, and the world is the place where the Church's charitable mission, following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, is to be carried out and fulfilled. In this globalized world, the Church faces the question of what kind of relationship it should have with other actors in the field of charity work.
The present work seeks a possible answer to this question concerning the situation in South Korea, a country influenced by Mahayana Buddhism and now described as "multireligious." The author first examines the underlying motives and history of the charitable mission of the Church and the Buddhist works of mercy. Subsequently, based on this foundation, he explores potential collaborations on the charitable level between the Catholic Church and Buddhist orders in South Korea.
