Zum Inhalt
Over the past three decades, yoga has become a real trend in the fitness and wellness industry, but what effect does the practice have on the lives of yoga practitioners? Which transformation and reflection processes result from the practice? How do yoga practitioners position themselves in social reality?
The cognitive interest of this study are the subjectivations which result from regular practice of modern forms of yoga. They have to be located in the body, as specific body awareness.
Besides forms of subjectivation, this study discusses the strategies and self-positionings of yoga practitioners caught up in the requirements of the social everyday world. The author discusses in detail the ambivalence of modern yoga between rational adaptation strategy to modern life and work conditions, and an alternative life plan.
