Conflicts in companies and organizations are not unusual. Constant changes in the world of work and the rapidly increasing speed of changes cause numerous conflicts. Handling these conflicts not only ties up in-company resources, but also represents a significant expense factor. Nevertheless, these conflicts also offer possibilities for a development of the organizations and the people working in them. It depends on the way, how the conflicts are dealt with. The conflict must not determine its outcome, but the people who are involved in these conflicts should find the solution. To be able to do this, they need a profound knowledge of the procedures and methods to settle disputes as well as communicative competence.
There are different procedures for the settlement of conflicts in the world of work. The most-widely known are legal proceedings. In general, they lead to a decision, but that does not solve the conflict itself. It is the solution of the conflict what really matters, because as a rule, the disputants will have to continue working together. Based on this background, the author views mediation respectively integrated mediation as an extra-legal procedure for the settlement of conflicts and looks into it in an entrepreneurial context. He presents integrated mediation as a form of systematic mediation and differentiates it from other models of mediation. The author shows that mediation is more than a legally regulated procedure. First and foremost, integrated mediation is a way of thinking, a kind of philosophy, where the formal procedure is only a way of application. A mediator who has internalized mediative thinking will also use mediation outside a regulated procedure and will develop mediation as a competence. This book shows how knowledge about mediation and its implementation can contribute to a lasting improvement of constructive debates in the world of work.Möchten Sie Ihre wissenschaftliche Arbeit publizieren?
