Dieselgate, pleasure trips or theft of data – also in the latest news headlines regarding compliance issues can be found. Although awareness of those topics might result from big compliance issues like WorldCom, Ergo insurance group or retailer Lidl, it seems that many companies still do not invest in compliance activities. I.e. small and medium-sized representatives seem to avoid necessary efforts to get an adequate compliance.

After realizing the necessity of implementing an adequate compliance organization the next challenges appear for those companies. Ideally companies use integrated compliance-controls, but most of the companies neither have time capacities nor financial resources nor adequate human resources for ensuring an adequate compliance.

This master-thesis provides several ways to implement controls, also considering the latest approaches. Using the example of order and online retail companies, identification and implementation of compliance controls is described.

If existing resources will be optimized, still unknown resources will be generated automatically.

Additionally a guideline supports the relevant identification and implementation activities regardless of company size and structure.

Because of draft status the guideline can be adapted and changed to individual needs.

Entrepreneurs and compliance officers can benefit from this thesis in an easy and understandable way. I.e. small and medium-sized companies starting their compliance activities might participate in the results. But also bigger companies at the beginning of their compliance-awareness will find assistance with guideline and conclusions.
