Based on a detailed discussion of the system theory (only the necessary terms in context with the actual research work are being discussed) the theoretical correlation is being laid out between the development of social society according to Niklas Luhmann’s system theory of the world society and a description of the functional system religion within the functional differentiated world society. Both descriptions form the theoretical background for the question presented to young people regarding their idea about religion and its importance in the daily life. The question is how to describe the function of religion for an individual and how that individual deals with religious offers and traditions. Subsequently the importance of religious socialization is demonstrated on the basis of several scientific quantitative analyses – establishing the counterpoint to the qualitative research.

The next chapters then present on basis of different scientific quantitative analyses the importance of religious socialization in order later on to make more understandable methode, basic idea and the style of thinking of qualitative research.

After that is shown the functionality of school within the world society as an inclusion into the world society. This serves a basis for later being able to explain the results of the empiric research as a description of school within a world society with religious options as a chance for inclusion. Thereafter follows a brief discussion of the terms inclusion and exclusion. Following that the methodic approach of the research is being described: methodological background, the group discussion technique and the documental method.

The main part of the study contains the results of the qualitative-reconstructive research, introducing eight selected group discussion teams. The orientation of young people and their access to religion as well as the importance of religion in their daily life is been described in detail using case descriptions. This empirical data gets condensed by the comparative analysis. As a conclusion the religious options are discussed to describe the school within the word society – using the scheme of the four dimension of senses (spacial, factual, chronological and social) in order to show the consequences to be considered when reflecting the schooling system within the functional differentiated world society.
