About this book deutschenglish
Rapid growth in energy consumption influences, on the one hand, energy prices and also endangers energy supply security. On the other hand, it destabilizes global ecological balances. Therefore the efficient use of energy resources plays a key role in finding solutions to these challenges. Improvements in global energy efficiency cannot, however, be realized without innovation and its diffusion to broader regions. Thus, channels of technology transfer such as Foreign Direct Investments are of great importance.
This book analyses the empirical and theoretical relationship between Foreign Direct Investments and the efficient use of energy resources in EU Cohesion and Accession Countries. The aim is to contribute to the literature linking sustainability to innovation process in the energy sectors of open economies.
Moreover, it seeks an answer to the question of whether developing countries can improve their industrial production, in terms of energy consumption and environmental friendliness, if they receive more Foreign Direct Investment.
