Due to the dissatisfaction of the author with the experienced practice in the field of human resource development and ist instrument – the teacher-headmaster meeting – at a Thuringian Regelschule (similar to Secondary School) his motivation arose to deal with theory and practice in this field of application in more detail. In addition, this instrument in connection with the increasing significance of the human resource management has become more important for quality-oriented school development processes recently. The author was also encouraged to realize this project because of the existing research desideratum with respect to the practice of the teacher-headmaster meeting.

He considers the recent educational and economical discussions on the human resource management extensively and presents the current state of discussion in a complex way.

The focus of another part of the study is on the teacher-headmaster meeting as the object of research introduced in Thuringian schools in 2007 on an obligatory basis as a measure to advance the human resource development in schools.

In this regard, the author has investigated the realized practice in dealing with the teacher-headmaster meeting at different Thuringian types of school in his own qualitative-empirical analysis.

This investigation is carried out by asking questions about the current practice of this kind of communication. In addition, some questions about the actual feasibility of the challenging “Guideline-Conception” for holding talks and about the aims of the talks published by the Thuringian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs are discussed.

The results received in this study and the theoretical and analytical findings on the current scientific state of discussion about the object of research are the basis for giving suggestions and hints for future innovative teacher-headmaster meetings.
