About this book deutschenglish
The impact of minimum wages and their resulting effects on employment have been discussed extensively and emotionally in current times. Klaas Würzburg assembles substantial overviews of both contemporary theory and empiricism on employment effects of minimum wages. In this respect, the book exposes the significant contrast between scientific facts and the commonly known minimum wage arguments, many of which are diluted and dominated by rigid ideologies.
Consequently, the author advocates for a less ideological minimum wage discussion and presents his own empirical research project that is unique in several aspects. It entails an extensive and homogeneous estimation technique that is applied on carefully selected data of seven European countries with general statutory minimum wages. New influential factors are considered that were not available to other previous studies. This innovative, international research project enables the author to draw novel conclusions which are highly significant for the contemporary minimum wage discussion. The results of this investigation add to the insight and knowledge of even the most skilled labour economist.
