In this study, Mr. Rosny Franck Nzenti investigates the use of German modal particles, with particular emphasis on their syntactic properties. Building on this analysis, the author examines the communicative-pragmatic functions of modal particles, which are characterized by a high degree of context dependency. The study further explores the treatment of modal particles in Cameroonian textbooks used in German as a Foreign Language (GFL) instruction. In addition, the author analyzes the attitudes of Cameroonian teachers regarding the integration and pedagogical handling of modal particles in GFL classrooms.

This work makes a significant contribution to the research on the syntactic and communicative-pragmatic functions of German modal particles. At the same time, it helps to bridge existing linguistic and didactic-methodological gaps in both the scholarly investigation and the pedagogical treatment of modal particles in the Cameroonian context.
