About this book deutschenglish
In my new book, I present a theory that explores the dynamic power of human memories and their invisible aesthetic dimensions. I focus on the transcultural experience of artistic creation, understanding memories as codes deeply rooted in the individuality of every person.
However, transfer processes also have a destructive side, as memories can be manipulated and historical truths reinterpreted through hegemonic discourses—for example, in the phenomenon of Orientalism, where the "Other" is exoticized and dominated. These processes of memory construction lead to epistemic violence by distorting collective histories according to imperialistic visions.
In the age of late digitalism, memory is further threatened by the structures of neo-capitalism, which promote suppression, forgetting, and a devaluation of the memory dimension. Art, I argue, is the space where memories are captured, transformed, and preserved. This "aesthetic butterfly effect" highlights contradictions and keeps the process of artistic engagement in constant motion.
With my theory, I aim to demonstrate how art serves as a platform for self-criticism and moral education and the impact it has on cultural transformation.
