It cannot be denied that the relationship between literature and psychology is very close. Literary works can be approached from different psychological perspectives. Many different points of reference make it possible to interpret them in a psychologically orientated way. As a result, new perspectives open up for the recipients, which expand the purely literary approach to the text with new aspects.

The (literary-psychological) analysis of literary texts also offers a wide range of possible applications in foreign language teaching. The role of literature in the didactic process should not be underestimated. After all possible variations in approach, literature nowadays seems to be regarded as an indispensable component of foreign language teaching and foreign language philology programmes and courses.

This anthology presents a scholarly examination of this issue, which can be seen as a forum for an interdisciplinary discourse where the issues presented above are discussed. The texts by Alfred Döblin, Georg Heym, Peter Turrini or Radek Knapp serve as points of reference for the academic considerations. In addition, the above-mentioned problems are also addressed from the perspective of certain phenomena occurring in reality, such as the foreign or the familiar.
