After school, young adults should be ready to enter the professional world. The growing discrepancy between the demands of school and those of today's professional world should be met with social-emotional learning. With concepts such as key competences, social-emotional learning, SEE-Learning, the "New Authority" and the school as a learning organization, an attempt is made to show how the essential characteristics for passing an apprenticeship or senior high school are built up and strengthened within the framework of elementary school. As the professional world is undergoing rapid changes as a part of social transformation and lifelong learning is a prerequisite for success, the learning content in social-emotional learning is required in addition to the technical learning goals. Cooperation and empathy are considered the most important qualities in today's world. The prevailing lack of a clear terminology and comprehensible concepts for this is problematized.
