In response to the relevant questions and challenge in our complex healthcare system, one of the ways in which professionals of the system respond is by setting up various advisory structures. Not infrequently, these structures are staffed with socio-educational professionals and utilize structuring methods.

First, Ms. Westenhöfer develops a normative recommendation for action "Case Management through Social Work in the Health Care System CaSas" for people with special psychosocial care problems and subsequently tests it in two extensive sub-studies with various stakeholders.

Using problem-centered interviews according to Witzel with the users and by group discussions with the professionals, Ms. Westenhöfer collects data material in order to reconstruct in a third step the implicit operational practical knowledge of the stakeholders, the collective orientational framework, the modus operandi; and to evaluate the CaSas recommendation for action, based on the documentary method according to Bohnsack.

Ms. Westenhöfer's results substantiate a specific understanding of professional action of social work in healthcare and thus a clearer positioning of case management within it. Ms. Westenhöfer's research shows that a coping process with psychosocial care issues in healthcare is essential to a specific target group, and that the art lies in making the individual coping resources, the availability of help and services in social space and the psychosocial care needs, especially of a latent and subjective nature, objectifiable and coordinating them with the stakeholders in health care.
