Reading comprehension skill has earned increasing importance not only in the education system but also at the labour market, nationally and globally. The ability to search for relevant information, to select appropriate information, to focus attention to essential aspects, the ability to retain the information in memory, to perceive it as a whole, to draw conclusions, to make associations, to evaluate, etc., is the crucial skill required for reading comprehension. These operations manage cognitive processes by means of predictors that support comprehension of text.

In the scientific monograph Application of Intervention in Reading Comprehension Predictors Development, we deal with the essence and importance of intervention while working with text and develop comprehension by stimulating predictors as independent variables that promote reading comprehension. We consider the predictors development through the means of reading comprehension intervention to be effective. Moreover, by stimulating them we simultaneously predict comprehension processes. By developing reading comprehension, we concentrate not only on the reading process itself, but simultaneously on the stimulation of cognitive and metacognitive processes and at the same time of affective and social domains.

In conclusion, we bridge the theoretical part with a more extensive analysis and synthesis of the predictors of reading comprehension that we suggest to stimulate in the intervention program. Each predictor is described in detail, specifically, the processes and mechanisms of functioning on the one hand, and on the other hand, we point out the importance of their connection to the reading comprehension process. In the application part, we discuss warm-up activities as they are related to the selected predictors and propose specific activities to stimulate the predictors in the intervention program.
