The volume Indica & Germanica – Contributions to Indo-European Studies Yesterday and Today in Jena brings together on the one hand papers on the history of Indo-European Studies in Jena: from Friedrich Slotty’s dissertation in 1905 to Richard Hauschild and further to the Peaceful Revolution (“Wendezeit”) 1989/1990 up to the present. On the other hand, current research questions in Indo-European Studies and in related subjects are addressed with reference to the present. The focus is on Old Indic and Germanic (Old High German, Early New High German, Old English), but other languages such as Slavic or Greek are also taken into account. Various aspects of historical linguistics play a role: onomastics, phraseology, etymology, cognitive linguistics, syntax, interpretation of Old High German glosses and texts.
