This work deals with the importance of the linguistic and non-linguistic contexts in the process of understanding the Quranic text and its translation.

In this work, the Quran is defined in detail both philologically and terminological. With regard to terminological definitions of the Quran, the work presents the Islamic-scholastic, Islamic-juristic and linguistic views.

The different views among non-Muslim scholars and Muslim scholars regarding the language and style of the Quran have been presented in detail.

A general overview of the difficulties of translating the Quran have also been presented.

The history of the translation of Quran has been explained here in both the Islamic and non-Islamic traditions.

Translation has been dealt with as a science. In addition, the pragmatic aspects and the theory of (Skopos) have been treated in this study. As an example of the lexical dimensions of Quranic expressions, the homonyms and synonyms of the word “unlettered/ unlearned” in the verses 2: 78; 3: 20, 75; 7: 157, 158 and 62: 2 have been examined in detail.

The speculative presumption of the omission in verse 16 of the 17th surah have been mentioned as an example of the grammatical dimensions.

The pictorial example mentioned in 6: 122 was chosen here as an example for metaphor in the teaching of rhetoric.
