The volume collects papers from three subject areas: lexicography, phraseology, grammar. The volume consists of three independent parts written by three authors. The contribution by Joanna Golonka comprises syntactic-pragmatic valency analyses. The part by Barbara Komenda-Earle is devoted to three proverbial categories: sententia, maxim and well-known saying (geflügeltes Wort). Lech Zieliński in turn focuses on lexicological treatment of the GDR-specific vocabulary in the dictionary Duden Deutsches Universalwörterbuch (DUW). The subject areas are tightly connected with the research foci of the jubilarian, professor Ryszard Lipczuk.
