The following proceedings are a collection of research papers presented at the international conference Slavic-German Encounters in Literature, Language and Culture which took place 2017 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, Croatia. The 14 papers in the research areas of linguistics, applied linguistics, literary studies and cultural studies have been written by researchers from different parts of Europe and examine the topic of Slavic-German contacts from different perspectives. The proceedings are divided into two parts. The first part comprises six papers from the area of linguistics and applied linguistics, while in the second part eight more papers in literary and cultural studies follow. The proceedings show a variety of topics presented during the conference and shed light on multiple perspectives of the relationship between the Slavic and German languages and cultures. The quality of the papers is guaranteed by a double blind peer-review process.

The proceedings are intended for students and researchers in the area of Slavic and German studies, since they give an insight into the different approaches and topics within this interdisciplinary area.
